ILLiad 8.2 update available
9:20 PM EST 1/24/12
The information about this update is long overdue, but I wanted to let you all know that ILLiad 8.2 version is available. If you are hosted you can schedule your update, otherwise coordinate with your own systems staff to run the ILLiad updater.

Here’s the link to all the changes for ILLiad 8.2:

https://prometheus.atlas-sys.com/display/illiad/ILLiad+8.2+Release+Notes

This is primarily a maintenance update, but there are some things of interest in it as well. Note that this is a server update as well as a client update but the server update must be scheduled/done first. You won’t be prompted to get 8.2 of ILLiad until your server is on version 8.2

- For those of you that are using OCLC Navigator and the ILLiad Patron Request Service to process items, there is a new version of that web service. Details on how to update your server are here:
https://prometheus.atlas-sys.com/display/illiad/ILLiad+Patron+Request+Service
Note that this only applies to sites who are using OCLC’s Navigator system.

- There is support for PMID and DOI fields added in the client to go along with the changes to the OCLC web service. The necessary fields are added to the Transactions table, ILLiad Request forms, WorkFormMapping table, OCLC Work Form and OCLC Request form. We also added support for the article author field.

- OCLC Alerts can be added to the Lending side as well as Borrowing requests can show any OCLC Alerts sent. These aid with a site wanting to send a shipped message but include the URL for the electronic item in the Alert field so that the borrowing library knows they should check it and not wait for something to come in the mail.

- You can mark items as found or choose mark found scan now from the Lending Request form. This is a big help to sites who would want to skip the batch printing process because the item can be filled immediately electronically and doesn’t require searching the stacks.

This last option of Mark Found is something that I’ll go over this Thursday at 1:30pm eastern during OCLC’s virtual resource sharing user group meeting. You can register for that event here: http://www.oclc.org/us/en/resourcesharing/default.htm

I’m also working on a video to show how to use the OCLC Article Exchange addon in ILLiad to quickly and easily fill articles that can’t be sent via Odyssey. I’ll post info about that here as well later this week when that’s ready.

And as a heads up, we’re planning on the next version of ILLiad to be available after the ILLiad conference, probably sometime in April. So keep an eye out for more info on that soon.

We are going to re-do our patron web pages. Where can we retrieve a full set of fresh, unedited patron web pages. We are hosted locally, and we are right up-to-date with ILLiad 8.2.
